f festivities with friends before the wedding, and in the end I feel like that was exactly the right way to go. I actually got to talk to some of the people who flew thousands of miles to be here for the shindig. I even got to have fairly reasonable conversations with most of them.

That's frustrating, isn't it? But you have to, since you don't want to keep a known security hole, open to public!
It has been a long time I'm using Wordpress and I've always enjoyed using it because of all its functionalities and ease of use but honestly with all the bugs, security wholes and updates I've given up! Now I'm trying to find a basic script, do my own tweaks and stick to it.
Almost every time there is an update for wordpress, it resolves some bugs but adds some new ones.
